Senior Systems Engineer - Ultrasound R&D (Reedsville, PA)
Make an impact where innovation meets patient care by joining our team in Reedsville, PA to ensure the reliability and performance of cutting-edge ultrasound systems that help clinicians deliver life-saving diagnostics. You will work closely with Philips manufacturing operations team, and you will also spend up to 20% of your time traveling to collaborate with our network of global suppliers.
Your role:
- Provide on-site engineering support for the ultrasound production line to keep operations running smoothly. Troubleshoot technical issues in real time to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
- Lead initiatives that boost yield, reduce cycle time, and eliminate defects (DEFOA) on the manufacturing floor. Develop smarter test processes and ensure seamless integration of design changes into production.
- Investigate complex product issues from manufacturing or the field and perform root cause analysis. Implement corrective actions and validate changes to maintain quality and compliance with medical device regulations.
- Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams to align on requirements and solutions. Lead technical discussions across electrical, mechanical, and software disciplines to ensure system-level excellence.
- Act as the technical interface for suppliers to resolve component issues and improve reliability. Qualify new components and ensure all parts meet Philips standards and comply with FDA, ISO 13485, and IEC 60601 requirements.
You're the right fit if:
- You've acquired 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical hardware development (medical device or highly regulated industry is preferred). This should include familiarity with analog/digital circuits and system-level integration.
- Your skills include solid understanding of electronics hardware (PCBAs, power supplies, interconnects, etc.) and ability to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems. You are proficiency with lab test equipment and reading electrical schematics and electrical hardware design documentation.
- You have a BS and preferably a MS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. It's a bonus if you have an INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP).
- You have proven ability to perform root cause analysis of hardware issues and drive problems to resolution, including use of structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g. Kepner-Tregoe or Six Sigma tools) in past projects.
- You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position . Up to 20% travel is expected, primarily to Wisconsin.
- You have strong communication skills and a track record of effective collaboration in cross-functional teams. Experience leading technical discussions with suppliers or manufacturing teams is a plus.
How we work together:
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers' or suppliers' locations.

Philips Transparency Details:
The pay range for this position in PA is $99,000 to $158,000.
The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
