We empower healthcare teams with innovative, reliable, and secure technology and we're seeking a Systems Engineer I (IT) who is Responsible for providing operational leadership and thought leadership to a broad range of IT disciplines including system performance and resiliency, network performance, security administration, and operations in physical/virtual and Cloud Windows and Linux environments.
Overview
The Systems Engineer is a hands-on position with the expertise to perform and lead the process methodology of installing, configuring, and monitoring systems and software. Performs, and helps others to perform, problem determination for servers and software. Helps to create and maintain documentation for all department activities. Adheres to all Service Request, Incident, and Change Management policies and procedures. Works with leadership to identify project requirements, assists and leads project teams, addresses complex technical issues and offers solutions supporting the enterprise. Participates in overall support rotation.

Systems Engineer I will:
Establishes, oversees, and sometimes performs system and tool checks to verify the integrity, performance, and availability of servers and resources in physical/virtual and Cloud environments daily. Assist Systems Administrators as required or requested.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for system administration tasks in physical/virtual and Cloud environments.
Research, and implement tools and processes that reduce labor and resource costs while improving overall IT delivery.
Establish and oversee processes and procedures that prevent, identify, and rectify security and data vulnerabilities.
Perform troubleshooting as required and lead problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools in physical/virtual and Cloud environments.
Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
Establish best practices for, and perform, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization in physical/virtual and Cloud environments.
Oversee and remediate issues discovered during security monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing.
Ensure data backup, replication, and testing operations are performing correctly.
Establish processes to apply OS patches and upgrades, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
Actively lead and participates in the implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
Oversees, creates and maintains detailed technical support and process documentation.
Performs capacity monitoring and assists with short and long-term capacity planning.
Identifies and help to gather and format data for Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Adheres to all procedures and policies including the use of Incident and Change Management.
Perform on-call responsibilities and after-hours duties as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities
Works with other departments teams, as requested, in recommending the required hardware and software topology for the right deployment architecture.
Contributes to the development and completion of technical RFPs.
Project management functions including managing the installation of new systems and other special projects.
Security and Privacy Responsibilities:
Individuals working for DSS or any Subsidiary will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53. Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties. Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high-risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access. Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.

Qualifications
Required Skills:
7+ years of experience administering Windows Server operating systems.
2+ years of experience planning and administering Azure large-scale virtualized environments.
Possesses a comprehensive working knowledge of Linux operating system, especially process and system monitoring facilities.
Strong WAN and LAN configuration and troubleshooting skills.
Exhibits mature organization and time management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent technical documentation and communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly and concisely, technical information to non-technical staff, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Skills:
Fluency in at least one scripting language, shell scripting, and experience with object-oriented programming languages.
Experience developing automation tools and frameworks for performance measurement and analysis.
Project management expertise
Experience in running presentations to internal audiences
Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Preferred: Master's degree, Computer Science
Years of experience in a similar role:
7+ years of experience administering Windows Server operating systems.
2+ years of experience planning and administering Azure large-scale virtualized environments.
Compensation:
Salary at DSS Inc is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000.00 to $135,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of DSS, Inc.'s total compensation package for employees.
