We empower healthcare teams with innovative, reliable, and secure technology and we're seeking a Systems Engineer I (IT) who is Responsible for providing operational leadership and thought leadership to a broad range of IT disciplines including system performance and resiliency, network performance, security administration, and operations in physical/virtual and Cloud Windows and Linux environments.
Overview
The Systems Engineer I supports cloud, containerized, and traditional server workloads across AWS Commercial and regulated environments. This hybrid role combines modern Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices with core systems engineering. Responsibilities include improving reliability, automating operations, supporting patch and vulnerability management, and ensuring consistent performance across Linux, Windows, and container platforms.
The engineer participates in an on-call rotation, contributes to operational dashboards and runbooks, and supports both proactive reliability efforts and reactive incident resolution. This role requires strong troubleshooting, automation capability, and an engineering mindset focused on repeatability, scalability, and compliance.

The Systems Engineer I will:
Cloud & Container Operations
Support and troubleshoot workloads in AWS, including, but not limited to EC2, ECS, EKS, SSM, RDS, VPC, Lambda, ALB/NLB, ACM, IAM, and S3.
Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot containerized applications using ECS (Fargate) and assist with EKS-based vendor workloads.
Maintain container lifecycle processes, including image validation, registry usage, and vulnerability/SBOM scanning.
Support multi-account AWS environments in both commercial and regulated enclaves.
Systems Engineering
Maintain and troubleshoot Linux (preferred) and Windows Server workloads, including IIS, Active Directoryintegrated systems, and cloud-connected services.
Support backups, snapshots, replication jobs, and DR readiness procedures.
Configure and deploy systems using automation-first principles (Ansible, AWX, IaC, scripting).
Reliability Engineering & Observability
Implement and support monitoring using Datadog, CloudWatch, Splunk, Azure Sentinel and PagerDuty.
Create and maintain dashboards, alerts, and SLO/SLI-aligned monitoring.
Participate in incident response and produce actionable postmortems.
Identify failure patterns and drive operational improvements through automation.
Patch & Vulnerability Management
Operate patching workflows across Linux, Windows, and third-party applications using enterprise and cloud patch management solutions.
Analyze vulnerability findings, coordinate remediation, and provide audit-ready reporting.
Maintain compliance with required patching windows, cadences, and regulated SLAs.
Service Management & Compliance
Use ServiceNow for Incident, Change, Problem, and Request Management in accordance with ITIL best practices.
Support audit activities for FedRAMP, SOC 2, and HIPAA by providing logs, evidence, screenshots, and process documentation.
Follow least-privilege, MFA, and approved access control procedures.
Operational Support & Cross-Team Collaboration
Participate in a structured on-call rotation and respond to escalated alerts from monitoring platforms.
Work closely with Engineering, Security, DevOps, and NOC personnel to support high-availability operations.
Develop and maintain technical runbooks, SOPs, and system documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
Works with other departments teams, as requested, in recommending the required hardware and software topology for the right deployment architecture.
Contributes to the development and completion of technical RFPs.
Project management functions including managing the installation of new systems and other special projects.
Individuals working for DSS or any Subsidiary will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53. Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties. Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high-risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access. Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.
